All the spirituality of sound and Japanese craftsmanship are embodied in these magnificent Orin. These traditional Japanese instruments—used in Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines—have sometimes required dozens of recastings to obtain a pure, undulating sound found nowhere else.
Ideal for meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and well-being, they are handcrafted by the Nanjo Kobo foundry, which has supplied Kyoto temples and shrines since 1839, as well as the bells of certain parade floats for Kyoto’s famous traditional festival, the Gion Matsuri. The uniqueness of these singing bowls lies in their sound: as long as the tone is not perfectly pure, craftsmen reshape the “Sahari” metal—an alloy of copper and tin passed down for generations. From home, get ready for a spiritual journey, far from everyday constraints.
